KEEPING IT REALReal people, real issues
Is it true that you would be happier if you just had a little more money?
Mek Mi Rich
Money will buy a bed but not sleep; books but not brains; food but not appetite; finery but not beauty; a house but not a home; medicine but not health; luxuries but not culture; amusements but not happiness; religion but not salvation; a passport to everywhere but heaven.
It seems that many believe that just a little more money can solve all their problems. It is this false hope that can cause people to abandon their families, destroy their futures and ultimately miss heaven.
1 Timothy 6:9-10 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Have you given yourself to the pursuit of riches? Do you find yourself saying I don’t want to be rich I just want a little more money?
First of all I want to point out this is not condemning rich people. There is a Robin Hood mentality that you find with those who are bound by poverty that to be wealthy is a sin. The scripture qualifies “those who desire to be rich fall into temptation”. There are plenty of poor and middle class people that have an ambition to be wealthy. In other words those that are at most risk to pursue riches are those who do not have riches.
At the heart of this temptation is the “love” affair we are drawn to by money. Jesus warns us in Matt 6:24
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
This is the only false God “mammon” that directly competes in the arenas that God wants from us. Master, which equates to “LORDSHIP”, Service, Love, and Loyalty.
1 Timothy 6:10 which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
The End of the road for those who make money their main goal is a dangerous and painful one.
Are you ready to change your pursuit for money? At best money can help to alleviate some temporal needs, but does not have the power to satisfy your genuine need. God who owns all the money and everything else in the universe is offering you something that will last for eternity. He paid for it with his own blood at the cross, not corruptible things like silver and gold.
Jesus is your treasure and reward.
Jesus has destroyed the power of sin and the devil at Calvary’s cross so you can be truly free in your heart. If you would take a moment and confess and repent of your sin and put your trust in Jesus Christ then you can start to experience God’s gift of salvation.
Say this prayer, “Dear heavenly Father I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I confess that I am a sinner. I ask that you would forgive me of my sins. I‘m ready to repent and put my trust In Jesus Christ. Thank you for having mercy on me a sinner. In Jesus name Amen.”
